Phone Etiquette and creating a script

I’m a preparation type of girl, and I always have been.

I don’t believe in jumping into something without first preparing for it. That’s why I have decided that doing the administrative part first will make you less nervous when clients begin to respond to your advertisements. Having everything done beforehand such as; pictures already taken, a website created, a pre-written ad, and a call script will make your job so much easer.

With that said, there is still so much to learn such as screening clients- but stay with me, we’ll get to that before you start posting ads.

As I’ve said in a previous post, having professional sounding ads and pictures will make a world of difference. When you have professional looking pictures and a professional sounding ad, you tend to attract a certain type of man. But what I hate most are the girls with terrible phone etiquette. You can be the most beautiful woman with the best sounding ad, but if your phone etiquette is bad, then that can be a deal breaker for a paying client. Most clients will pay attention to your voice and attitude to determine if you’re worth the money and effort. If you sound ghetto, like white trash, or have a terrible attitude, believe me, they will trash your name around all the escorting message boards and soon your phones will stop ringing altogether.

Believe it or not, this is where 70% of escorts fail, and why they never get appointments and their phones stop ringing. If you don’t sound pleasant or professional over the phone, the client will immediately say...”Well, I’ call you back”. But trust me, he won’t.

I’ve read countless escorting eBooks that tell escorts to sound cold and short when talking to clients over the phone and that’s WRONG. If I were a man and I was calling a lady for some friendly companionship that’s going to cost me $200 an hour, and she was sounding like my call is an inconvenience, I’d immediate go to the next girl. Keep that in mind! These men are your bread and butter, and sometimes, your regulars will be the only people in this industry you can depend on.

So let’s get to it.

Let’s say a potential client calls after seeing one of your ads, he’ll probably say:

“Hi, I’m responding to your ad on backpage and I’m wondering when you’re available”?

What works for me is when I respond, I make sure that I am in complete control of the conversation at all times, but I’m polite. Never allow them to discuss sex or money over the phone because as I’ve stated before, that’s illegal.

Here’s usually what I say when clients call:
“Thanks for calling sweetie; my hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm and Saturdays from 4pm-11pm. I’m located in North St. Louis County, conveniently off highway 270. I do require that all clients have at least 1 reference from a provider, and he also has to be 35 and over”

If the man is a regular hobbyist, he will provide you will all the information you need. But if he’s a newbie or looking to be a jackass, he’s either not going to have a reference because he’s new, or he’ll flat out be difficult. If the man is difficult or annoying, which a lot of them will be - politely refuse, and hang up. Never argue, or get your blood pressure raised.

For the most part, the men that call will be respectful if your ad and pictures are tasteful. If your ad has tons of misspellings, Ebonics, and some tasteless photos of your crotch, then you can expect to be harassed all day and night by the idiots and perverts.

Always be classy. I can’t stress that enough. Being classy will eliminate 80% of the headaches in this business, and earn you respect.

And when men respect you in this business, you’ll never go broke!
